GiiÖii (CEO Rene Hyewon Lee) has announced its participation in AWE USA 2025, to be held from June 10 to 12 in Long Beach, California, as part of the Pavilion Seoul XR.
Founded in 2020, GiiÖii is an immersive storytelling studio and culture-tech company. The studio produces original XR experiences using AI and advanced immersive technology and covers planning, production, distribution, and education for XR/convergent content.
GiiÖii’s representative works that blend storytelling, art, and technology—”Ihyangjeong: Carving With Memories,” “Missing Pictures,” and “Find WiiLii”—have been officially invited to global festivals such as SXSW, Cannes, and Tribeca. The studio has also won Best VR at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic and the Luxembourg Film Awards and was named a finalist at the VR Awards, gaining recognition for both artistic value and technical excellence.

Over the past five years, GiiÖii has actively pitched projects and distributed works in the U.S., France, the Netherlands, Japan, the U.K., Australia, Taiwan, and New Zealand. The company has partnered with global organizations in AI, AR, and LBE, expanding brand value through immersive technology. Its multilingual XR content production experience gives it a strong edge in Korean-to-English localization.
Domestically, GiiÖii is recognized as an innovative growth-type venture company and received the Chairman’s Award at the Metaverse Innovation Awards hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It holds 29 intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and design registrations, and contributes to the domestic XR ecosystem through its proprietary technology and creative capabilities. It is currently developing location-based immersive content inspired by Korea’s cultural heritage (K-Heritage).
The company is currently developing “Immersive Goong,” an original LBE (Location-Based Experience) VR content project rooted in Korea’s palace culture and heritage, with a planned release in 2025. Though still in the planning and production stage, the project has already been selected for the 2025 NewImages Festival Market in France and 2025 SXSW, raising global expectations.

“Immersive Goong” reinterprets Korean palace culture through a modern lens. It is a multi-user-based LBE VR experience set during a fictional international event planned (but unrealized) in the Joseon era in 1902.
Up to six to eight users can simultaneously participate as Joseon envoys, don VR equipment, and experience a party-style immersive session featuring traditional dance, palace architecture, and cultural arts. Fusing Korea’s unique aesthetics with cutting-edge XR technology, the content has been designed from the outset for multilingual versions, including English, to enable global scalability.
“Goong” is not just a VR experience—it is built on original IP with the potential to expand into other platforms (AR, MR, AI-based interaction). This enhances its value as a cross-platform immersive content development solution.
GiiÖii also possesses its own LBE production capabilities and system development solutions that integrate AI, AR, and XR technologies. The company offers customized immersive experience design services for enterprises and institutions.
Its content has been exhibited and screened in countries including France and Japan, reaching global audiences through international film and XR festivals. However, this AWE USA 2025 participation marks the beginning of formal export contracts for the company.
Looking ahead, GiiÖii aims to: officially launch exports of immersive content such as “Goong” and expand multilingual versions; secure global distribution channels and partnerships through international film festivals and XR markets; release new cross-platform content incorporating AI, AR, and MR; and expand into diverse industries such as education, tourism, and brand experiences through B2B collaboration.
